This case study is based on a conversation with Paula Lewis, HR Manager at VJ Technology.
VJ Technology is a leader in manufacturing, distributing and testing fixings, fasteners and building consumables for the construction and infrastructure sector. Paula joined the business in 2022 and there was no performance management software in place. The process was all manual on a seven page paper version of a PDR, including competencies, performance reviews, objectives and career highlights/aspirations. This followed a cumbersome, manual process to establish training requirements from the PDRs.
After an evaluation of several stand-a-lone performance management systems, Actus was chosen. We provided all of the data to Swags and she and her team managed and uploaded every bit of data required.’’
“Jane (account manager) provided excellent training sessions for the HR Admins, and she was so thorough that we felt confident enough to create and deliver our own training to managers and employees. Even after all of the HR Admin training and 6 months after implementation, Jane is always accessible to answer any queries we have. Jane’s training was so good that it meant Paula has such a good understanding of the system she was easily able to train the users.’’
“We have just completed our first cycle of year-end reviews, and managing the process through Actus has been a breath of fresh air. Following up on outstanding reviews not completed is so efficient at the click of a button with an automated email and with the additional option to include managers in the reminder. Life has also been made so much easier when identifying training needs as the reporting function allows you to select training needs data, export to excel and filter by categories.’’
“As a visual person, I find the graphics make it really easy to navigate the dashboard compared to a page showing lots of data. However, the data once exported, is really useful if you need to interrogate the results further. From a HR perspective, the level of detail in the reporting provides so much insight, such as filtering out the comments from staff members.’’
