Our piece that is featured in this February 2021 issue relates to how wasted time is unrecyclable, and how we should reflect on lessons learnt during 2020 to build back better for the future. The overarching lesson for us was that this time was actually all about people. It is about how we should trust and empower our employees. Certainly, we should not be micromanaging or wasting their time unnecessarily by forcing attendance to an abundance of irrelevant virtual meetings. Such actions will surely demotivate the best of our employees, and thereby their performance. By giving employees the power to use their own initiative to work on their objectives, as well as the ability to manage their time effectively, and attending frequent (but not excessive) check-ins to embolden the human connection, we can ensure our people enjoy working for us, whilst providing the key outputs necessary.
