A journey of growth

Pelican Procurement Services is a professional procurement and supply chain specialist with over 30 years of knowledge within the foodservice and catering industries. Their relationship with Actus Software began in 2013 and has been a journey of growth, spearheaded most recently by Senior HR Business Partner, Francesca Fowler, who joined Pelican Procurement in June 2020.

Previously a family-owned business, the procurement company was acquired by Aramark Corp back in 2017. This marked the start of a corporate journey for the 100+ staff, which undoubtedly was a cultural shift. Since joining, Francesca has worked closely with the Actus Customer Success team and has used her L&D background to train managers in utilising the system more effectively.

Quality performance management conversation

The business has been focused on using Actus Software to manage regular, quality performance conversations and to set objectives that align with the needs of the business. Since last year, Pelican Procurement started implementing leadership standards for everyone within the business, using the Actus System to align the business strategy with any objectives set. So far there has been a real uptake in committing to this new process and it has allowed for much greater visibility and clarity for all.

Last year, the business also started using the calibration tool in Actus to look more closely at their distribution of performance. This has helped Heads of Departments to take a much more holistic approach to performance across the business.

Leading best practice with Actus support

Since Senior HR Business Partner Francesca Fowler joined the business in 2020 she has instigated a number of positive changes to how the system is being used, with the support of the Actus Customer Success Team. By attending regular support calls with the team she has been able to ensure that Pelican Procurement remains on track with its performance management goals.

When asked whether she would recommend Actus Software to others, she shared the following:

‘In terms of its functionality and what it (Actus) offers, I think it is really good value for money. The Customer Success Team also plays a great role in that, as Jane is very proactive and really cares about our business and our needs. She asks about my HR objectives and what I am looking to achieve, and that adds real value to me. The resources that have been shared with me also add real value to myself and the team.
