Reflection: My First Week as an Intern at Actus

Today marks a sad day for me, the summer has ended and with it my time at Actus has also come to an end. Throughout my time with Actus I have gained invaluable knowledge and experience, overcome challenges and above all, worked with a fantastic team. I have experienced many different business areas, primarily marketing but I have also helped with the managing and co-ordinating of the company’s first customer forum. I would like to extend a massive thank you to Actus, I will forever be grateful for my experience with the team and for all the memories gained. One of these memories I will be sharing with you is my very first week with the company…

During my first week as an intern with Actus, I learnt a great amount about the business, the product and their values. I helped in theACTUS BANNERS AT HPMA EVENT development of the new company website and collated information on existing blogs and knowledge bank PDF’s. I then began producing blogs of my own, primarily surrounding the Customer Forum held on 14th July.

At the end of my first week I represented the company for the first time at the HPMA Roadshow in Leicester. Upon arrival at De Montfort University myself and a colleague unpacked and set up the exhibition stand. We made sure to have a variety of free items on offer for interested parties, as well as copies of Best Practice guides and case studies.

HPMA LEICESTER EVENT SETTING UP

I was able to interact with potential clients; providing them with information about the business and the product offering. The main points discussed were: what Actus does, why the software is of value, our USP and why employee engagement is paramount. Resulting from this came several leads for the company, something I felt very glad to have contributed to.

I attended the opening and Key Note speeches at the event. Peter Homa, CEO of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, spoke about his career and what he had learnt about leadership and thoughtfully included his recommended desert island reads. Peter Anderton then discussed and revealed the Keys to Leadership, both speeches were interesting, insightful and also very witty.

During the event, I was able to network for the first time, with other exhibitors and talk to the event’s organisers. The entire experience was very engaging and it was great to see how exhibitors interacted with each other as well as potential clients. This experience and being able to gain insight into the innerworkings of such events, was very useful.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first week at Actus, the team was extremely supportive and so knowledgeable in their respected fields. Even at this point, I had already learnt a great deal that should prove beneficial to my future career!

Thank you Actus!
